The villain Charles Muntz, from Up, has a name very similar to Charles Mintz... the Universal executive who, in 1928, took control of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit from Walt Disney. Losing Oswald was a huge blow for Disney... and it eventually led Walt Disney and animator Ub Iwerks to create a brand-new character: Mickey Mouse. Many people believe the villain’s name was chosen as a kind of historical jab by Disney... turning the former rival into a villain and a traitor within the story itself!
